Rats can live anywhere from 2-4 years if you care for them properly. They're scavengers which means they'll eat pretty much anything. Lab blocks are the most common food that are given to pet rats. Just be sure to put them in a type of cage that they can't chew through. Rats are prone to respitory problems.
